A walk from Haverton Hill to Seaton Carew

taking a walk from Haverton Hill to Seaton Carew taking photo's for my book, these were taken on my phone, but the images for my book will be Large Format Black and White. 

I have really enjoyed this project so far even though iv spent most of the time confused about one thing or another, the walks iv been on to get the photo's have been really enjoyable and have helped clear my head, putting things into perspective and helping to create my book.

Though not of industrial landscapes the images in this book were taken using a large format.

I enjoy look though Ian's books and the story behind each book is as unique as the books themselves. Being mainly portraits, the images in this were taken at Eton while Ian was teaching there.

Ian Macdonald The Blast Furnace

This book by Ian Macdonald has the a fond place in my heart, the subject matter being the blast furnace is actual very close to where i live and one of the photos in the book was taken from my village.

Ian used a Large Format camera for the photo's in this book and i plan to use large format also. The use of large format fits the subject of the steel works perfectly and the nature of the works means that black and white fits also.

the layout of the book is very unique, with title page not being the first thing that you come to but being after a few pages with pictures on them. i have never before seen a layout like this. Each of the pictures in the book have a depth to them that you rarely get without using large format.

Michael Schmidt Fotografien Seit 

this book by Michael Schmidt has photo's mainly in Berlin. I understand that he is German but this book has a very Germanic feel in the layout and use of space. with some of the pictures being quite small and in centre of a page all by themselves, its a very interesting way of laying out a book.

the last to picture are across two page which i do not particularly like, thats not to say i don't like the subject matter because the last one is very industrial and has very definite darkness to it, but the chose of putting it across two page, i feel is not a good one. 

Chris Killip Pirelli Work

though not of industrial landscapes this book by Chris Killip has a uniqueness about it. The subject being Pirelli workers, its meanly photo's of men working in the factory. i like the way he has laid out this book and the way he has used space on the page.
 I also find the use of black and white prints (traditional format) interesting, it fits the the subject matter perfectly. Showing the subject and little else.
A very interesting and easy to follow book.

After doing a bit of research for this project, PHOTO BOOK, i feel a bit baffled if i'm honest. I know what i'm going to do my book on but still not sure about the layout of it, and weather each picture needs its own tittle or if they speak for themselves. I'm not even sure about the tittle of the book at this point either, i still got a bit of shooting to do which will hopefully be done by the end of this week. So hopefully it will all come good. Well it can't be said that i didn't try anyway.
