photoworks
 autmn/winter aprill 2011/12
 Pavel maria smejkal
 fatescapes 1968 saigon
 page 8-9
i really liked the grainyness to picture, it was on at teo page spread and the image realy looked gritty and raw, wich guess reflects what life must of been like in Saigon in 1968. also i found the desolation interesting because it made me wonder why the streets were so empty of life, the only thing in the photo being the truck and that kind of seem out of place in such an enviroment.

zed nelson A Tail of Two cities
this one i find hard to explane why i like so much
i think its the way all the bins are lined up against the wall, all of them have been graffitied on, with the stadium in background wich kind of looks like its crowning this area.. i noticed it says "ask jazzy" on the wall, wich left me wondering who's jazzy..

this court my eye as soon as i turned to this page, it a second to relise that the tree had been broken off somhow, and theres another tree growing quite happily on other side of the wall it makes you wonder about the social divied.

this is a real well thought out photo with the people in the boat in the middle of the picture, the wall and the bank on ether side draw the eye into it, and plus the river or whatever it is that they are on looks mingin i just want to push them into it and laugh..

 stephen gill image from billbourds
looks to be taken in russia or somewhere like that but actualy taken in london
i like the idea that the book that this was published in (hackney wick) is accompanied by a body of work, and not a body of work with a book to accompany it. its quite an unusual way of working

ed van der elsken- picture of sum totty crossing the road

"Silo and Smoke" - Markus Hartel
marcus hartel - would love to go to new york and capture the steam coming out of a man hole.
the smoke that is obscuring parts of the scene, and the guy in for is kind of a mystery man as you can only see the outline, he's all in shadow

the fog in this photo adds an eriness to it, its like a shot strait out a horror film,
the fact that theres no shadows really doesn't help any, and the background being obscured
adds to whole horror-esk feel to it.

Bad Weather by martin parr
tittle speaks volumes hear really
think its really interesting the fact that he managed not to
get any footprints anywhere in, i mean snow and no footprints
equals an amazing photo, well in my eyes it is anywhere

martin parr -
thats right its pimm's o'clock

another trent parke this has a comic factor to it the only thing on the street being a kangaroo the shadows play big part of this photo, adding a real quality to quite a surreal photo.
this is my fav trent parke photo, i feel as though i am
there in the pouring rain, with it bouncing off my head
and running down my face.
i like this quality that he gets in his work, putting
you in the photo with him by drawing on your experience's and
making you part of the photo.
i do really like bad weather shots.
Trent Parke Australian street photographer with Magnum
its interesting the way he's longer shutter speed to capture movement
in this photo, adds a gritty quality to it
Moriyama - really like the grainy and grittiness of this photo depiction of japanese urban life, and as for moriyama himself i like his conviction in the beliefe that a camera is not the photographer.

Henri Cartier-Bresson. perhaps one the most influential
photographers ever, one of the founders of Magnum
Photography, the movement in this photo i find catching
my eye every time i look at it also he's court the reflections
on the water which appair to be sharper more defined than
the actual objects..

bruce gilden . a couple of well dressed men taking a strole  in new york city really like the movement in this photo
bruce gilden. this left me feeling sleightly ill i mean really..
Bruce Gilden. taking a photo here of what appears to be an arguement or in fact two arguements.. took me a while to notice the women in the background and left me wondering what's actually going on here..

Add caption
Robert Capa from magnum photography. This is clearly an older photography being from 1944 taken in france, still i feel its relevant today as it shows how people react badly to others and persecute offers without truly knowing them or what they've been through..

brian soko
theres a certain feel to this photo, the suubject clearly has been arrested and is probable going to jail for something or offer but its the way he's looking right into the camra that just makes you believe it is not just staged..
